COMPUTER OPERATIONS TEACHING POSITION

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Computer Operations program prepares students for careers dealing with analyzing network systems design, installation, maintenance, and management of computers.  Skills taught will assist students in obtaining network and computer certifications.  NCCC enrolls high school juniors and seniors from eight (8) local high schools for three (3) hours per day.  Students may participate in the program for 1 or 2 years.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Postsecondary degree related to education or computers preferred, but not required.

Computer Certifications in A+, Net+, any additional Microsoft Certifications required

Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

Pass a criminal history check.

A traditional teaching license is not required.  Career program teaching positions are based on related work experience and education.  A minimum of three (3) years (6000 hours) related experience within the past five (5) years in the area of instruction is required.  

PAY AND HOURS:

Pay will be based on education and years of related experience as applied to the pay and benefits schedule for New Castle Community Schools teacher contract.  Career program teachers work a standard 183 day teacher contract plus extended contract days.  

TIMELINE:

Resumes will be accepted through August 30th, 2017, or until an acceptable candidate is identified. The ideal candidate will start immediately.

Health Careers Teacher Aide 

The aide supports the Health Careers teachers with daily instruction and supervision of students in Health Careers classroom or at their clinical/lab sites located at various medical facilities in New Castle. The aide will supervise and assist in teaching workplace expectations introduced by the teacher. The aide will supervise small groups of students or individuals as they work in various locations throughout New Castle.
 
 
 
Adult Basic Education Evening Teacher Aide 
The ABE program provides instruction to adults (16 years and older) desiring to improveThe ABE program provides instruction to adults (16 years and older) desiring to improve their basic academic skills; especially in reading, writing, and math. Limited Englishspeaking adults are served as well. Students enroll to prepare for the HSE (High SchoolEquivalency) test, refresh and/or improve academic skills before attending college, andimprove work related skills. The aide will assist the program instructors with scheduling,testing, filing, record keeping, student follow-up, and preparing instructional materials.ABE classes meet at the New Castle Adult Learning Center, Ivy Tech.

Be sure to include any required credentials as noted on the application form.  Completed applications are held in our active file for a period of 18 months from date of receipt.  If a vacancy exists in your teaching area(s), interviews are requested only after your completed application is in our active file.

Important note:

Per IC 20-28-5-3(c), beginning July 1, 2007, applicants who receive an “initial” teacher’s license must have successfully completed training in:

  • cardiopulmonary resuscitation that includes a test demonstration on a mannequin,
  • removing a foreign body causing an obstruction in an airway, and the Heimlich Maneuver; and,
  • hold a valid certification in each of these procedures from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
