 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree in education with a Superintendent License preferred. 
  2. Extensive work experience as an administrator in increasingly responsible leadership positions in the field of education.
  3. Experience as Principal or similar leadership positions.
  4. Sound understanding of school law.
  5. Ability to function independently as a decision-maker within the guidelines established by the School Board and Superintendent.
  6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Assists the Superintendent in all activities designated by the Superintendent and performs duties in the absence of the Superintendent.
  2. Directs and supervises Principals and Directors in meeting academic goals and all priorities of the School Board.
  3. Establishes and maintains effective measurement systems for tracking academic and organizational performance and progress toward goals.
  4. Provides oversight to all corporation priorities and projects that assist in achieving the Board’s strategic plans and goals.
  5. Assesses the organizational infrastructure of the Corporation (i.e., staffing needs, reporting structures, administrative systems and procedures, and programmatic assessment) and makes substantive recommendations for; and initiates change where necessary.
  6. Oversees the following departments: Transportation, Maintenance, Food Service, Technology
  7. Responsible for:
  • Security, safety and compliance
  • School Safety Specialist certification process
  • Evaluating road conditions for weather closings and delays
  • Coordinate corporation textbook adoptions
  • Capital Projects
  • Corporation Bond Acquisitions
  • Before and after school programing
  • Summer School and Summer Learning Opportunities
  • Cenergistic Energy Savings Program
  • Special projects and programs (Tru Harbor, 21st CCLC afterschool grant, etc.)

Performance Effectiveness Criteria:

In addition to the employee being responsible for each of the performance responsibilities listed herein, periodic and special reports to the Board and other entities will be provided regarding the impact of this position with respect to progress toward annually established Corporation objectives for, but not necessarily limited to, the following areas: 1) Student Performance, 2) Customer Service, 3) Fiscal Accountability and Responsibility, 4) Process Efficiencies and Improvements, and 5) Employee Learning and Growth.

Additional Job Functions:

  1. Follows adopted policies and procedures in accordance with School Board priorities.
  2. Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the Corporation’s Mission Statement.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned.

CULINARY ARTS INSTRUCTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Monitor, promote and support Career and Technical Education.
  • Provide on-site instruction in all phases of Culinary Arts.
  • Have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Responsible for culinary lab set-up.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe, sanitary, and clean working lab that is always ready for health department.
  • Assist with inventory management.
  • Assist with record keeping to include inventory logs, reference materials, and purchasing documents.
  • Be extremely flexible with school day and daily prep time.
  • Develop a strong community and parental involvement.
  • Assist with marketing and public relations as assigned.
  • NCCC enrolls high school juniors and seniors from eight (8) local high schools for three (3) hours per day for either one (1) or two (2) years.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must have appropriate Indiana teaching license or be eligible for license based on education and work experience. (Eligibility is defined as holding or be eligible for a Workplace Specialist (WS) license having over 6000 documented hours in the field in the last five years.  New Castle Career Center will assist the candidate with  this license.)
  • A two or four year postsecondary degree is preferred but not required.
  • Having an extensive knowledge about careers in the Food Service industry.
  • Current ServSafe certification.
  • Note: Employment is year to year and based on having required minimum enrollment.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
  • Pass a criminal history check.

PAY AND HOURS:

Pay will be based on education and years of related experience as applied to the pay and benefits schedule for New Castle Community Schools teacher contract.  Career program teachers work a standard 183 day teacher contract plus extended contract days. 

TIMELINE:

Resumes will be accepted through July 31st, 2018, or until an acceptable candidate is identified. The ideal candidate will start August 6th, 2018. 

 

  Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy Site

Located in Knightstown, Indiana

JOB DESCRIPTION:        

Adult Basic Education (ABE) provides learning opportunities for adults, 16 years and older, that have not graduated from high school and seeking to improve basic academic skills for employment, postsecondary enrollment, or High School Equivalency Test (HSE).

New Castle Adult Education will provide the students at HYCA with their educational programming in the coming school year. The Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy is a program that is run by the National Guard that houses Cadets age 16-18 and is a military style academy. Students spend their days split between academics, life skills and physical training. Chosen candidates will teach either math or language to Cadets at the academy. The course material will be determined by placement testing and be based on the College and Career Readiness Standards that are covered on the TASC test, formerly GED test. Cadets live at the facility for 5 months, and there are two class cycles per year. The schedule will vary and teachers will be required to follow the HYCA schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a valid Indiana teaching license in any area.

Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

Successfully complete a criminal history background check

PAY AND HOURS:

The hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 am to 3 pm at the Hoosier Youth

Challenge Academy in Knightstown, Indiana. Pay will be determined by the Adult Education pay scale based on experience and license status. Positions are subject to grant renewal each year and hours and positions may change based on this grant.

TIMELINE:

Resumes will be accepted until an acceptable candidate is identified. New Castle Schools Certified Staff employment packets can be found on the corporation website. The individual hired will begin on or around July 9th. A two (2) week training session will be provided during the day in July, as convenient for the new hire and current ABE staff.

Per IC 20-28-5-3(c), beginning July 1, 2007, applicants who receive an “initial” teacher’s license must have successfully completed training in:

  • cardiopulmonary resuscitation that includes a test demonstration on a mannequin,
  • removing a foreign body causing an obstruction in an airway, and the Heimlich Maneuver; and,
  • hold a valid certification in each of these procedures from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
