Dear Parents,
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Eastwood Elementary, welcome to another exciting year at our school. I hope that you have had an enjoyable summer with your children and are preparing for their return to school.
As most of you know, Eastwood has had a lot of changes over the summer. We have several new teachers, some new aides, and me! We all look forward to getting to know each other as we work together in the best interest of our students.
Education is a complex business. It requires a cooperative effort between the student, teachers, administrators, and parents. You, as parents, play a vital role in the educational process. Your support and participation in the education of your child is of the utmost importance. When a child understands that education is a main priority to his/her parents, he/she will also make it a priority. Take an interest. Ask questions. Become involved. We cannot do this important job alone. We need your help.
We will continue many of the programs already in place at Eastwood and will undoubtedly plan new ones. One of the most important is our Success Time. Each student will work in a small group on a daily basis to improve Math skills. Students will receive remediation, maintenance, or enrichment depending on their current skill level. In addition, teachers will schedule an uninterrupted 90 minute block of time each day for Language Arts. Our goal is for each student to reach their full potential. Our focus at all grades will be ensuring that all students are able to work at grade level in Language Arts and Math.
All of us at Eastwood Elementary are looking forward to the new school year. Let’s work together to make this the best school year ever for your child.
Very sincerely,
Debbie Hartzler, Principal
