Eastwood Elementary has three computer labs in use.

One lab houses 24 computers, a scanner, a black ink laser printer, and a color laser printer.  The computers are equipped with headsets.  This lab is used by all classes on a weekly basis.  Each class also rotates through a monthly schedule with an instructor from the corporation technology office.

Another lab is housed behind the library and contains seven computers.  At this time, this lab is used on a sign-up basis by any teacher in the building.  Future plans call for it to be converted to a remediation-type lab for work on reading and math skills.

The third lab is devoted to our Waterford Reading program.  This is for K-2 students, and gives them a super head-start with reading skills.  Currently, there are only seven computers in this lab, so only the kindergarteners are using it. When we expand the lab later this year to 12 computers, all K-2 students will be included.  Each child has a half-hour block of time every school day to work with this software. We also have an after-school program, in partnership with the County Extension Office, that uses this software with pre-school children.

In addition to these three labs, each classroom has at least two computers for teacher and student use.

We are fortunate to have many programs on our computers that enhance our state standards.  Ask your child what programs they have been using.
