your traffic signs?

Parents – You may have to help younger children read the descriptions for each sign. As you are driving down the road, show these signs to your child and explain what they mean. You will be surprised at how quickly they will learn to recognize these signs and know what they mean. For younger children, help them take the quiz over these signs found at the bottom of the page.
Something to remember – Always look both ways when crossing the street.

Stop, Look, and Listen when you come to a railroad

Railroad Crossing - This sign shows you that you are approaching railroad tracks. Look both ways before crossing. Be sure to stop, look, and listen before crossing the tracks |
| One Way - When you see this sign, you are only allowed to go in one direction. The arrow will tell you which direction to go. This rule is for bicycles, skaters, skateboarders, and cars. | |

Bicycle crossing - this is a safe place to cross your bicycle. If you are in a car, this sign warns the driver that bicycles may be crossing. When riding your bike, you should always walk your bike across the street. |

Pedestrian Crossing - This sign showns where pedestrians (walkers) cross the road. When you are walking, use the pedestrian crossing. If you are in a car or on your bike, let pedestrians pass in front of you. |

Intersection - This sign shows you that you are approaching an intersection. An intersections is where two roads cross each other. When you reach the intersection, usually there is a stop sign or stoplight. Don't cross the intersection until you look both ways. |

School Crossing Zone - You are near a school and students may be crossing at this spot. You should always slow down and look carefully. |

Stop Sign - This is an easy one. When you see this 8 sided sign, you should always stop. This is true even on your bicycle or skates. Don't just roll through the stop sign. Come to a complete STOP! |

Do No Enter - This sign tells you to not enter this street in this direction. This is true for cars, bicycles, skaters, and skateboarders. |

No Parking - anytime you see a circle with a line through it, this means it is not allowed. In this example, Parking are not allowed. |
| Handicapped Accessible - This sign means that the area is available for people with physical handicaps. This might be a restroom, parking space, or building. | |

Hospital - This shows that a hospital is nearby. You can use this sign if you need medical help or it also tells you to watch out for ambulances and other emergency vehicles. |

Telephone - This is an easy one. A telephone is nearby. Use this sign if you need to find a telephone. This is helpful if you have an emergency. |

Information - This sign gives you information about the direction of certain towns. There are many different types of green signs to give you information |
